Diwali is five days, not one. Dhanteras opens the festival and Bhai Dooj closes it, and both deserve their own wish. Here are the 2026 dates and a quick way to make a video for each from your own photos.

Dhanteras video
Dhanteras is about new beginnings in the home: a new utensil, a coin, a piece of jewellery, the first diyas of the festival.
What to photograph
- The item you bought, on a clean surface with a diya beside it.
- The rangoli at the door.
- The first lamp lit in the evening.
How to make it
- Open the maker with the Dhanteras preset. The message 'धनतेरस की शुभकामनाएं!' is already filled in.
- Add two or three photos. Set each photo to 3 or 4 seconds; slow pacing suits the mood.
- In the music library, search "devotional", "festive" or "sitar".
- Choose yellow or white text and the fade-in animation.
- Make the video and post it in the evening, when most people check their Status.
Bhai Dooj video
Bhai Dooj is personal. The best video is one only you could have made, because it uses photos nobody else has.
A structure that works
- One childhood photo of the two of you.
- One or two photos from the years in between.
- This year's tilak photo, or a recent photo together if you are in different cities.
Then:
- Open the maker with the Bhai Dooj preset. The message is 'भाई दूज की शुभकामनाएं!'.
- Put the brother's or sister's name in the Name field.
- Old printed photos can be photographed with your phone; hold the phone parallel to the photo and avoid glare from a window.
- Use Fit framing for old landscape photos so they are shown whole.
- Pick a warm, slow track and the typewriter animation for the name.
If your brother or sister is far away, send the file directly in chat as well. A video that arrives on the morning of Bhai Dooj is read as a message, not as a post.
Using clips
Since October 2026 the maker accepts short video clips along with photos. For these two days, useful clips are short ones: lighting the first diya, the tilak being applied. Trim each clip to two or three seconds. A clip keeps its own sound, so the music and the clip's sound play together.
Size and where it works
The video is a vertical 720×1280 MP4, the shape used by WhatsApp Status, Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts, so one file works for all three. There is no watermark.
