Chhath Puja 2026 Status Video: Dates and a Free Way to Make Your Own
Last updated: October 2, 2026
Chhath Puja 2026 runs from 13 to 16 November. The ghat at sunset and sunrise is one of the most photographed moments of the year in Bihar, Jharkhand and eastern Uttar Pradesh. This guide shows how to turn those photos into a short wishes video.

Make a Chhath Puja video →Chhath Puja 2026 dates
| Day | Date |
|---|---|
| Nahay Khay | Friday, 13 November 2026 |
| Kharna | Saturday, 14 November 2026 |
| Sandhya Arghya (evening offering) | Sunday, 15 November 2026 |
| Usha Arghya (morning offering) | Monday, 16 November 2026 |
Sunset and sunrise times depend on your city. Check locally on the day.
What to photograph
Chhath gives you two short windows of extraordinary light: the last half hour before sunset on the third day and the first half hour after sunrise on the fourth.
- The soop and daura: fruit, thekua and sugarcane arranged for the offering. Photograph from above before leaving home.
- The walk to the ghat: family members carrying the daura.
- Arghya: the vrati standing in the water facing the sun. Shoot with the sun behind the subject for a silhouette, or from the side for detail.
- Diyas on the water after dark on the third day.
Step by step
- Open the Free Short Video Maker with the Chhath Puja preset. The message 'छठ पूजा की हार्दिक शुभकामनाएं!' is filled in.
- Add 3 to 6 photos in the order of the festival. Add a short clip of the arghya if you have one; trim it to a few seconds.
- Choose music. Search the free library for "devotional" or "flute". If you recorded the singing at the ghat, either keep it as a video clip or add the recording with Use your own audio.
- Pick white or yellow text. Sunset photos are dark at the bottom and bright at the top, so text in the lower half reads better.
- Make the video. It is a vertical 720×1280 MP4 with no watermark.
Two videos, not one
The evening and morning offerings feel different, and they happen about twelve hours apart. Make one video after Sandhya Arghya and another after Usha Arghya. Each needs only two or three photos, and people who saw the first will look for the second.
Framing sunset and sunrise photos
Most ghat photos are taken in landscape because the scene is wide. A vertical video would crop them heavily. In the maker, choose Fit for these photos: the whole photo is shown with a soft background behind it. Use Fill only for photos taken in portrait.
For family who could not travel
Many people from Bihar and eastern UP live in other cities and cannot go home for Chhath. A short video sent directly in the family group on the morning of Usha Arghya lets them see the ghat. The MP4 is small enough to send over a mobile connection.
Posting
- WhatsApp Status: Updates, then Add status, then pick the video.
- Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts: upload the same file. If the video includes a recorded song, the platform may mute it; your own recording from the ghat or a library track avoids that.
Every app sets its own length limit. A video of three photos and one short clip is under 20 seconds and fits all of them.
Frequently asked questions
When is Chhath Puja in 2026?
Chhath Puja 2026 runs from Friday, 13 November (Nahay Khay) to Monday, 16 November (Usha Arghya).
Can I use a Chhath geet in the video?
You can use any audio file on your device with the 'Use your own audio' option. Recorded songs are usually copyrighted, so for a public Reel or Short a track from the free library is safer. A video clip you shot at the ghat keeps its own sound, including people singing.
Will it work with a weak network at the ghat?
The video is made on your phone, not on a server, so photos are never uploaded. You need a connection to open the page and to search the music library; your own audio and your photos need none.
Is there a watermark?
No. The video has no watermark.
